Feb 21, 2010 - I think that is the only guy I have ever seen put a steelhead back in the water from up there. Most are meat hunters that will keep more than their limit whenever they get the chance. Ohio has much better sportsmanship. Plus it's better in ohio because you can get seclusion any day of the week. Come to Ohio and you will see the real beauty behind the steelhead and what it actually takes to fish for them outside of that fairground trout pond they call elk creek.

Oct 2, 2008 - There are tiny creeks that people dont know about if u want to get away from the croud. There is one behinde my house, it may only be 4 to 10 feet wide, but that doesnt stop 20 inch steelhead coming up there. I have yet to see anyone fish it. I may try to go and catch some this year.

Jun 25, 2008 - Mitnilmot, I would agree. Walnut and lower Elk, and off-shore trout are more newbie zones. The fish bite at anything, they pile up. But what a place! After you successfully reel in your first Steelie, it's actually YOU that is hooked. And the shooting fish in a barrel, and the crowds do become tiresome, you move to more challenging waters. I'ts a wonderful place that is unparalleled anywhere.
